Elizabeth Ebert, a South Dakota native, was a widely admired writer who admitted that she was a closet poet until 1989. Elizabeth's expertly crafted poetry was widely acknowledged as among the finest traditional rhymed and metered cowboy verse being written at the time. Besides “Prairie Wife,” Elizabeth wrote another full-length book of poetry, “Crazy Quilt,” a chapbook of Christmas poems and a spoken-word album titled “Live From Thunder Hawk.” Elizabeth Ebert (Thunder Hawk, SD, 1925-2018)
