Shandee shapes a song that shaped her, with a captivating cover of an Ian Tyson composition, backed with harmonies by Rigby. Shandee Layne and Rigby Summer perform "Someday Soon" during the "Ian Tyson Tribute" show at the 35th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Shandee Layne
Bristow, OK
Shandee Layne is an Americana singer-songwriter from Oklahoma's red dirt country. From her early years, she learned to play guitar, perform, and cowboy, influenced by her father (cowboy poet Jack "Trey" Allen) and other Oklahoma and Texas based cowboy poets and musicians. She is now a full-time school teacher, touring and writing songs when she can.
Rigby Summer
Stillwater, OK
Rigby Summer weaves an Americana soundscape that reflects the road she’s traveled, from her Kansas City jazz upbringing to the beach pop of her former home in southern California to the Red Dirt roots of her current home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The result is a powerful cosmic Americana sound that often draws comparisons to Brandi Carlile and Lucinda Williams—a little modern, a little old-fashioned, always earnest.
"Someday Soon" words + music by Ian Tyson.
