Corb and Forrest decide to do an iconic Great Basin story song by Ian Tyson. Why not? Corb Lund and Forrest VanTuyl perform "MC Horses" by Ian Tyson while Ramblin' Jack Elliott listens during the "The Rambling Boys" show at the 36th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering.
During its peak, the MC Ranch spread over nearly 1 million acres of land owned by the William “Bill Kitt” Kittredge family and lease lands in Oregon and Nevada, and ran upward of 19,000 cattle.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Corb Lund
Southern AB, Canada
Corb Lund was born and grew up in rural southern Alberta; he comes from four generations of Canadian ranchers and cowboys. He grew up riding horseback, chasing cattle, and rodeoing on the prairies and in the foothills of the Rockies. Lund’s Western heritage stays with him, no matter where he roams. “My whole life is sort of a dichotomy between being a cowboy kid and living in a city,” says Lund. “I guess that informs my music, too.”
An American Forrest
Enterprise, OR
“An American Forrest” is the work, words, and music, of Forrest VanTuyl: packer, poet, cowboy, and songwriter from Wallowa County, Oregon. He composes his music and poetry between seasons of working horseback in the Eagle Cap and Hells Canyon wilderness areas. His most recent album, O Bronder Donder Yonder? is a full-band exploration of songs inspired by the place he calls home--riding out of the mountains in the dark, camp cook’s jokes, good horses, good country, and learning to be a better man.
"MC Horses" words & music by Ian Tyson.
