ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ernie Fanning (1935-2006) was born in Missouri, raised in Arizona, and settled in Nevada, south of Reno. He owned and drove horse-drawn carriages and sleighs in Sparks and Lake Tahoe. Ernie cowboyed in Arizona and Nevada, and was known for his mule training. He learned most of his large repertoire of classic cowboy poems from other cowboys, and wrote many of his own poems in the traditional style.
